Carroll County and its municipalities are required to update a Hazard Mitigation Plan every 5 years to be eligible for federal hazard mitigation funding. A Hazard Mitigation Plan is a document in which emergency managers identify hazards facing the community from severe weather to hazardous material spills and then analyze risks (how likely for the hazards to occur), as well as analyze vulnerabilities (how costly hazards could be). With this information and feedback from the community, emergency managers develop goals and projects needed to reduce the risks and vulnerabilities.

A public hearing on the Hazard Mitigation Plan update will be held in the Commission Chambers, 3rd Floor, of the Historic Courthouse at 323 Newnan Street, Carrollton, GA 30117 on January 28, 2025 at 5:30PM. The public is encouraged to attend and offer feedback as we kickoff the Hazard Mitigation Plan update.
